Tesamorelin is a synthetic version of a hormone your brain naturally produces to tell your pituitary gland to release growth hormone. It is FDA-approved for a specific condition that causes excess belly fat in HIV patients, but it is also used off-label by people who want to reduce deep abdominal fat (called visceral fat) and improve their body composition. Visceral fat is the dangerous kind that wraps around your organs — not just the kind you can pinch.
Tesamorelin tells your pituitary gland (a small gland at the base of your brain) to release growth hormone in natural pulses, the same way your body does it on its own. That growth hormone then signals your body to break down stored fat for energy, particularly the deep belly fat around your organs. It also raises IGF-1, a growth factor that supports muscle maintenance and overall body composition.
